Due to the recent coronavirus outbreak there have been changes to how we consult with our patients - please see landing page of this website.  As we are reducing the number of patients that our clinicians are seeing face to face, we have started to use video consultations.  The Practice is using AccuRx to carry out these video consultations.  The consultation is not stored or recorded within the AccuRx system, the clinical staff member is required to record observations and outcomes of the consultation directly into patient records in the same way as a face to face consultation. (as of 12/03/20)calendar

Consultations at Vine House are by appointment only (except for the urgent walk-in clinic with the duty doctor each weekday afternoon- please see details below).  We offer a variety of appointments which can be booked in a number of different ways.  Please see below:

Routine Doctor Appointments

Routine doctor appointments can be booked over the telephone on 01923 267755.  You can choose option 1 to use the automated service or "hold" to speak to a receptionist.  Alternatively, you can book routine doctor appointments online by following the link at the top of this page - please first register for this service at the reception desk and bring photographic ID with you. They will then process your application and issue you with a log-in and password.  Routine appointments are booked at 10 minute intervals.  Please book a longer appointment if you think it may take longer to discuss your problems.  You can request to see a particular doctor, although this is not always possible.  Generally routine appointments are booked 2 working days ahead.  We do, however, have a certain number of appointments per doctor that can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.   This will enable you to schedule your routine and  follow-up appointments more easily.  

Urgent Doctor Appointments

Urgent on the day doctor appointments can only be booked in person or by speaking to a receptionist via the telephone on 01923 267755 (morning appointments only).  They cannot be booked using the automated service or online.  The Duty Doctor for the day will see these patients.  If you feel you need to be seen more quickly than the next routine appointment, please tell the receptionist who will help you and may ask you for more details.   

Alternatively, in the afternoon the Duty Doctor will see patients in an urgent walk-in clinic which opens at 4.00 pm.   Routine problems cannot be dealt with in this clinic.  The doctors have instructed the receptionists to ask for an outline of the urgent problem so that the doctors can triage the list.  There is a limit to the number of patients that the Duty Doctor can safely see and if that limit has been reached when you arrive you may be directed to an alternative local service. 

Early Morning Appointments 

Many patients are unaware that doctors appointments are available from 8.00 am. These can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

As part of a group of GP Practices working together as a GP Federation, Vine House provides access to weekday evening and weekend appointments in the Watford Extended Access (WEA) service, which is managed by Direct Local Health Ltd.  Our patients can now make an appointment to see a GP on weekday evenings, Saturdays 9am-1pm and 3pm-7pm and Sundays 9am-1pm; to see a nurse on Saturdays 9am-1pm and to have blood tests with a Phlebotomist on Saturdays and Sundays.  These appointments need to be booked by a receptionist as they use a different booking system.  During these appointments your health record may be accessed and viewed by clinical staff other than your GP or a GP at your practice.  Please be assured that your confidentially will be maintained: for the service's full Privacy Statement please see 'Patient Information' at .


Telephone Advice blue_telephone

Telephone advice can be obtained from one of the practice nurses although the receptionist may ask her to call you back when she is free. In the same way a message can be left for your doctor if there is something you urgently need to discuss.  Please ring 01923 267755.

Practice Nurse Appointments

Our practice nurses are able to offer a number of clinical services. If you are unsure whether to book an appointment with a nurse or a doctor, our receptionists will be more than happy to advise you.  Nurse appointments can only be booked either in person or by telephone on 01923 267755.  They are not available to book via the automated service or online due to the variety and complexity of these appointments.


You can only cancel an appointment online if you booked it online.

You can cancel any appointment by the following methods:

When you contact us to cancel your appointment you will need to leave your name, date of birth, date and time of appointment and the person you are seeing. 

Please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.  Appointments are in great demand and missed appointments are a frustrating waste of time and resources so please make every effot to contact the surgery if you need to cancel.
